Anglesea river
Has anyone fished the Anglesea river lately or does anyone know if the bream are still biting their? Are there lots of snags there or is it just a muddy bottom? I wanted to flick some 2.5" grubs with a 1/20th jig head do you think I could pick up a decent bream or are all the bream to small there to hit a grub?
Cheers

Re: Anglesea river
Haven't fished there for ages, but if they're there, grub and 1/20 should do the trick.Flattydog3M wrote: ↑Sat Jan 02, 2021 2:06 pmHas anyone fished the Anglesea river lately or does anyone know if the bream are still biting their? Re: Anglesea river
I used to have a house down there and believe me mate, you can fit some of those bream in a stubbie hole. The biggest fish i caught from there after all those years was 40cm bream, i reckon all up I have caught about 10 bream over 30cm in about 15 years. However, I did work out that if you fish at night and use big freshwater yabbies you will catch the bigger ones or try casting turtleback worms around the bridge at night. Have you tried Airies Inlet, there are better fish in thereFlattydog3M wrote: ↑Tue Jan 05, 2021 3:29 pmDoes anyone else knwo if there are decent size bream and flathead there?

Re: Anglesea river
Not sure about now but 10 years ago I was down there having a BBQ with the family and spotted a big school of monster breams prob all over the 40cm mark just baking in the sun right at the end of the river before the surf beach. Few years later I noticed there was dead breams floating around there prob due to Algae overgrowth? The water condition was not great for a while but I think it's all good now. Use to catch alot of mullet and small baytrout there.

Re: Anglesea river
I don't care if they are small. I should be able to get a couple on 2.5" grubs or small crankbaits? Can I?Seniorfisho wrote: ↑Tue Jan 05, 2021 5:59 pmI used to have a house down there and believe me mate, you can fit some of those bream in a stubbie hole. There's only one way of finding out and that's trying.

Re: Anglesea river
I've seen people catching bigger bream from the anglesea river on fishbarain. Some are from 2-3 years ago. Do you think now in January the bigger ones would be fired up? Im pretty sure the council dug a trench at the mouth to draw water from the ocean.
