Far west reddies
Came across a random lake I never fished before, far west of Melbourne. Apparently it's a local secret so I can't tell what lake and where it is to respect the locals.
Went there on Sunday, was cold, windy, and some rain. It was a small lake and full of weeds all around the edges.
I was on my kayak and started with Daiwa double clutch 75 (dives to 1.5m). Only to catch weed. Changed to Rapala shadow rap shallow dive and got a redfin, just cast and slow steady retrieve. Found a nice pocket with a school of redfin and caught some on zman grub 2.5 inch jigging the bottom and they picked it off the bottom like bait fishing. Took couple of them home.
It's cold, but there's still some good fishing. Mrs loved the redfin dinner.

Thanks, got lucky we found the school. Oddly though, they didn't bite hard nor aggressive as we thought they'd be. Usually they do when they're in a big school like that.
My sounder lit up like a Christmas tree when we passed the school.

That's a great little session Seb, I think I know that lake and have fished it before. Did you get a reading as to the depth around the middle of the lake?
I was going to fish it Friday, if it's the one I'm thinking of

I didn't go to the entire lake, but where we fished, it was 2-3m, sorta half of the lake, the left side of the carpark where we launched. That's where we found the school.Seniorfisho wrote: ↑Wed Apr 28, 2021 12:46 pmThat's a great little session Seb, I think I know that lake and have fished it before.
