Fishing Victoria Species Comp 2014
One of the members asked the question in a thread earlier about land based comps. It's got me thinking of making a species comp for FV.
Most here aren't boat owners so I think it wouldn't be fair to put up species that are relatively out of reach for land based fishos.
10 species. Split evenly between salt and fresh,
Fresh species, Murray cod, brown trout, rainbow trout, Redfin and carp
Salt species, aus salmon, squid (hood length only) snapper, flathead (all species) and for a challenge a mulloway.
I think the average length of fish between both fresh/salt roughly equals.
Only legal sized fish to be measured. On a brag mat, tape measure, dpi guide. Clearly photographed with FV2014 marked on it somewhere clearly.
Comp to stop Sunday 8th of June. Will give everyone plenty of time to have a crack for multiple species. It coincides with trout season close.
I'll be putting up a prize for the winner. Haven't decided what yet but it will be worth getting involved.
Brief rules, be honest, can be boat, land based or kayak. Fish doesn't have to be released but take a bit of care if you are to help its survival. Has to be within Victoria. Overall length of fish in Cm wins at June 8 at 4:00pm. If you're competing you need to have your "Fishing Victoria Species Comp 'x'cms" shown in your signature.
Get around it.

I was definitely thinking that. A $5 entry. Winner takes all. But didn't know how to sort it out. And frankly didn't want a **** fight. But if we can work it out I'm happy to run an entry fee.

Re: Fishing Victoria Species Comp 2014
Just to be clear
The comp is won by the total over all length of all species added up.
So if someone catches a 80cm mulloway and nothing else it can be beaten by a guy who caught a 60cm carp and a 21cm Redfin.
Whole cms only. If it isn't clearly shown it can't be claimed. Eg a 49.8cm should go down as a 49cm. I'd like a bit of honesty here. No point trying to sneak a cm or two. Like a wise man once said, only schoolboys lie about their length. Haha.
I reckon you'll need 250cm+ to win the comp.

Re: Fishing Victoria Species Comp 2014
Combined fish to win comp? Never caught a mulloway before and from what I've read people chase them all there life to land just one. I would of thought Bream could be a better option. Just my opinion means jack.

Re: Fishing Victoria Species Comp 2014
Right Ducky, Jon has kindly allowed us the use of the fishing victoria paypal account to deposit money into.
Lets finalise the structure of the comp over the next few days, and get it rolling. I'm more than happy with your format.
