Re: First Shark off the Sand
Thanks Guys!
Out of curiosity what rod+reels do you guys use for this sort of stuff?
I have one combo I am really happy with at the moment , but thinking of investing in a heavier setup.
I have a Daiwa Tournament Masters 14ft rod matched with a Shimano Bigbaitrunner Longcast XTA, running 40lb braid and 60lb leader at the moment.
I personally feel its a good middle ground for most of what is round here.
I am not keen to paddle out baits and the likes just yet, dont have that skill level , thankfully common sense is keeping my feet on the sand till I get there.
So casting combos only.

There is always more to learn , fish to catch , places to see and friends to make.

Hey Guys,
I headed down towards Marlo this weekend.
The plan in my head was to gather some bait during the day and try fishing for Gummy's at night off the beach.
Point to note, this was my only second attempt at trying to fish for them.
I know nothing about this sort of thing.
Drove back on Sunday, Slightly knackered from lack of sleep , but a fine end to a glorious weekend.
Well and truly have caught the land based shark fishing bug, will be chasing some Gummies again soon. Still havent caught one!
But pleased as punch!
I know this is an older post , , , , but still relevant
Aaron , , , , yoooo da Man
Not because you got a Toothie, or a Gilly (no not Adam, he's safe  ) or that you got a PB on the Flatties , , which are all GREAT by the way.
But you are a legend , , , , you "know nothing about this sort of thing" , , , , which you are being modest, the word you probably should have used is experience in this sort of thing.
You know heaps , , , , you did your homework, made a plan, which is the best thing you could have done, and did things right. I especially love the point of fishing the high tide at 1am , , , , instead of sunset which would have been more convenient but you knew when to go.
A lesson to all , , , , don't be like Mike , , , , be like Aaron
Cheers, Bugatti I wanna be like Aaron too

I’m fishing for them again this weekend Bill, hopefully
Get one .
I grew up in a landlocked city in India. Its been refreshing to be able to fish estuaries and the salt ever since I moved here.
I must say though, I don’t particularly like rinsing all my gear after a session, just a necessary evil.
There is always more to learn , fish to catch , places to see and friends to make.
