New 2019 Yellowfin

Post by SuperHornet » Thu May 30, 2019 2:39 pm

Hi Looking to buy a new YellowFin possibly the 5800 Folding Hard Top during the upcoming boat show,
What are your thoughts on this model, The good and the bad, any Yellowfin owners would like your opinions.
The G1 Etec 135 HO looks like they will be discontinued soon, Maybe i could go with a Yamy F130 instead.

Cheers

SuperH

Looks pretty mean & the folding hardtop is a great idea....should be lots of eye candy at the boatshow to dribble over (check out the build quality of the Kiwi plate boats over the Aussie stuff)

I've been in a lot of tinnys over the years and would take a good GRP boat over one any day of the week even if a bit smaller than the one you are looking at ......

There's a Plate Boat owners group on FB, it's worth checking out.

I think the yellowfin is a plate boat not a tinny?

They certainly look the part. But they're still a Telwater boat and hull shapes wouldn't be all to different to previous models. Find a couple of 1-4yo Yellowfins and see how they've held up after some use. At the show compare to Mclay, extreme, stabi, barcrusher and other plate boats.

End of the day, plate still doesn't ride as good as a similarly priced and specced grp boat
