Fishing rods of the Future!!
something new from abu garcia..
A rod with Bluetooth?! Here’s a sneak peak from ICAST... The Abu Garcia Virtual rod is the first-ever fishing rod enabled with Bluetooth technology. Fully integrated with the free ANGLR smartphone app, this new rod series allows anglers to record catches and mark waypoints in their personal and private logbook with the simple press of a button integrated into the butt end of the rod!!
i wonder what other manufacturers will have for us at the AFTA next month...

Re: Fishing rods of the Future!!
I am not that well versed with technology so correct me if I am wrong. Is the only advantage of having this technology (built into the rod ) to save having to get your phone out of your pocket?
Cheers

Bugger me, cheers davo
It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

Re: Fishing rods of the Future!!
Hummm... Often I still go fish even if the whole world is against it.
When you really wanna fish, you just go. The surprise is sweeter too.
Certainly a convenient way to record catches and stuff.

Re: Fishing rods of the Future!!
No camera, no built in brag mat, pretty useless
How long before self baiting hooks, self casting rods, self landing rods.
Fishing line that ties it's own knot. Hooks that release the fish after the rod has photographed, weighed & measured it.
Take your driverless electric car to a man-made lake, temperature controlled and stocked with virtual fish.
Cheers Gra

I get that companies are expected to keep bringing out new **** but I’m not sure what problem this really solves.
The new Hobie drive on the other hand is a seriously impressive piece of kit and even though I’ll never get one myself I can still appreciate the engineering that has gone into it.
