i'm sure you'll catch something jigging plastics, or even shiny metal lures or spoons if your in the right place at the right time.

I hooked a salmon earlier this morning jigging blade from shore.
You won't know until you tried.

I've caught yakka before jigging small metals from mornington pier going for salmon, so best way is trial and error.
Just up and down a metre or so off the bottom.
