King George Whiting reports
I've seen a few KGW caught around Brighton recently.
With the water temperature warming up it won't be long before these delicious fish are a target species for many anglers

Re: 2012 King George Whiting reports
I remember when i was about 10 years old i was on holiday in WA visiting family.
My grandad took us out to cervantes somewhere in the middle of nowhere off the pier and we caught 11 whiting. Took them home and cooked them for dinner. Delicious. It was the first time i had ever been fishing. If only i remembered how he did it :dinner:

xOoOx There's a fine line between fishing and just standing on the shore like an idiot. xOoOx

Re: 2012 King George Whiting reports
Got a couple of smallish KG`s last night from a local pier. They came on just as the sun was setting. Chucked one back, would have chucked both, but one had swallowed the hook..Interestingly, they both bit really hard. The last few I`ve had have been really shy biters, prompting me, at Fish Cadors advice, to use small long shank hooks. If the KG`s are back on the bite proper, may be time to go back to KL circles..which work very well under normal circumstances.

when using circles, I suggest dont let the bait clump up like a squidball. Long thin strips of cala mashed soft is better if you can make it stay that way on a circle.

When using circles, I normally use a strip of fresh calamari, tacked through one end only. Worked a treat last season..Fish-cador wrote:when using circles, I suggest dont let the bait clump up like a squidball. mash it always carl. Fresh cala strips are tough as leather when wet and cold. Mashing it releases the smell and easier to be swallowed. Will try circle next time.

I've never targeted KGW and would like to know if any special weather conditions suit the fish from land based ie: SW wind for snapper. I would like to fish for KGW and any help would be great :victory:

Lol...I like a tail wind mate...I fish light for KG`s, so as little wind as possible is the go. More to do with the gear I`m using than the conditions the fish prefer. Just look for somewhere with sand and weed..Berley and wait, chuck two lines out, and fire a squid jig around while you wait...does the job for me..Raulfc7 wrote:I've never targeted KGW and would like to know if any special weather conditions suit the fish ie: SW wind for snapper.
