Different GPS units
My cousin has a Hummingbird, a friend has a Garmin.
I stupidly bought a Lowrance and I am still trying to figure out how to use my computer to put the waypoints onto a card for the unit.
The Hummingbird has a PC friendly program to manage waypoints, but it must be windows, not mac
Garmin uses the Home port, which is either Windows or Mac. and is easy to use.
Lowarance, well I am still trying to figure it out. Plus so far they are trying to get me to pay for a program where the others are free.

Re: Different GPS units
Sent Lowrance a reply and ask if I could swap my unit for Hummingbird or Garmin, as their computer programs were much simpler to use and they are free.
Hummingbird
Humminbird PC sadly it is window only
http://humminbird.com.au/wp-content/the ... .4.5.0.zip
Garmin (windows or mac)
http://download.garmin.com/software/HomePort_2210.exe
Don't think they are very happy with me.

Success at last, with the Lowrance.Wolly Bugger wrote:Sent Lowrance a reply and ask if I could swap my unit for Hummingbird or Garmin, as their computer programs were much simpler to use and they are free.

First step was to convert KMZ file to GPX.
Some programs do not run on Mac's and the Windows Laptop does not have an SSD card reader.
The next step was to download a converted for the files and then load them into another GPS program, copy the files then to a disc, load the disc into the Mac, and copy the files to the SSD then insert the SSD into the lowrance and copy the waypoints to the Lowrance.
Now I don;t know where I put my Lowrance map card.
