Thanks , bit too late for now, but ill keep it in mind for next time.aeb870 wrote:Can't comment on Karikai braid as I've never used it, but tried loads of other brands and found power pro to be my favourite. I've never had any issues with it and it's hassle free, doesn't get tangled like other braid brands.
It is a little noisier and somewhat rough textured but in terms of performance it can't be faulted.

Make sure your brain doesnt over load when you cach all the fish on shimano gear lolpurple5ive wrote:ok, so got 2 of the shimano outfits for $99, might pickup some elcheapo glass outfits to run mono.
what sort of mono line do you guys recomend
Otherwise good buy welcome to the team
I wouldnt go below 15lb just because of bycatch of a gummy or a big snapper or ray

I would second that. All our setup's are 15lb minimum and we are yet to (crosses fingers) break a line.smile0784 wrote:Make sure your brain doesnt over load when you cach all the fish on shimano gear lolpurple5ive wrote:ok, so got 2 of the shimano outfits for $99, might pickup some elcheapo glass outfits to run mono.

12-15lb. You're only fishing the Gay bay. There's no tidal influence to aid rays, and most gummys are small. Save the kairiki braid for squid/surf spinning/whatever

Re: cheap snapper combo and braid options
You could use them for pinkies rods at westenport where i fish. 20 lb would be good.purple5ive wrote:ive got to cater for the deckys with almost no experince thats why i went with 20lb..
I have a mate that has 15lb braid on light rod for westenport but i thinkits a touch light if you get a buy catch.
