Good job...especially in trying the different lures. Looks like the spinners work fine but I dare say they will twist the line. Which brand of spinner was it anyway?
Also was meaning to ask, your original report on this thread about being 'undergunned', with hindsight, what combo would you have liked to have first up.
cheers

Twisted beyond belief!

the spinners are from Team Born2fish. i was just out testing them.
with being undergunned, it all depends on what your angling capability is really. for me personally in that situation i would have changed the reel to a 25XX size insted of the 20XX size i had on. purely for line retrieval ratio. drag capacity doesn't come into play due to light lines being used.
the smaller reel was a lot of work and had to keep constatntly winding fast just to keep up with the fish, and then wind even faster to get some line back.. the rod even though a 2-4kg is a beast and can easily handle bigger fish...
this weekend gone we were bending jigheads (light gauge nitros) on 8lb line.. and i was using a 2506 luvias which was a lot more comfortable to fish in terms of line retrieve..

Cheers mate!.Hectic habbib wrote:thats mad
this weekend gone, we happened to stumble across the salmon. they are still big and they were surface feeding this time. stupid amount of fun when they are surafce feeding, i left my surface lures at home so didnt get to try any and had to use plastics , hopefully next time i will have the surface lures handy on me.
if you havent tried the XOS salmon on light gear then you are really missing out on some crazy action, i encourage everyone to give it a go and have a bit of fun doing it.
Cheers

this time i trialled out a few different things on the salmon, some stickbaits and spinners, along with various plastics
everything got smashed, we caught probably around 50 plus fish between 3 of us (all released) and hands are well and truly buggered
2 of them being new to plastics/lures and was learning, this was a good time to get some practice for sure.. this time we all used 8lb line
the fish were on the smaller side this time with most fish being between 40 and 50cm and a few 55cm and some smaller models mixed in..
only very few pics this time cause i couldn't be bothered..
Well done
