Flurocarbon vs Mono Leader
Hey guys, going for some rock squidding and in the area people generally recommend 20lb Fluro to minimise the chance to lose jigs. I only have 30lb Flyuro or 20lb mono. Which one would you use? The main question is: is there much difference using mono or fluro when targeting squids?

Rock the fluro, could be the difference between loosing a jig or not.
I reckon 30lb fluro should be perfect for rocks, would be good to hear with people who fish rockier areas.

Thanks Andrews, yep it would be good to hear from rocks experts It looks like the chance to lose jigs in these areas is pretty high. I am planning to use one float + classic set up

30lb fluro for me, I wouldn't have a problem with 30lb mono either, but not 20lb

How heavy is your main line? You can't save your jig using 100lb leader when your 10b main breaks at the knot.

Re: Flurocarbon vs Mono Leader
I'd be more worried about the 10lb braid rubbing on the rocks. Braid can easily get cut.

Re: Flurocarbon vs Mono Leader
Ok guys, a bit of round-up, thanks everyone for the good comments:
- Fluro definitely better than mono
- 20lb leader is fine for rocky areas or areas with a lot of weeds. I pulled the trigger and bought a 20lb shimano leader. This is a good review of what is on the market: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIOzzhHR2lo

Squid don't give a ****. My landbased squidding rod has 15kg braid and 20lb leader. Never lost a jig using it.

Re: Flurocarbon vs Mono Leader
Squidding any 20lb leader is fine. I don't think it makes a huge difference. I like the shimano Tiagra stuff, it seems to be abrasion resistant. Easy to spend way to much on leader for no real benefit.
