Re: Custom made roof rack? Does anyone know

Keep an eye on gumtree too, there are lots of 2nd hand trailers for sale when/if you go down that path. Something to also look into if your next car doesn’t already have a tow bar is the price of having one fitted - some car models are stupidly expensive to fit “tow packs” to

Re: Safety - EPIRB/PLB, flares, essential?

I would strongly recommend all boaters use SafeTrx, a tracking, logging app developed by the Coastguard. https://coastguard.com.au/safetrx/ It allows you to log trips, it send regular positional updates (using location service of your mobile device) and provides automated overdue notification and e...

Re: 2nd hand hobie pa14 vs native watercraft manta ray 12 vs cheap copy

For mine I cut out a perfect shape of foam that the transducer would fit inside of, glued it to the bottom of the hull with selleys all clear. Once dry this creates a well that holds water. Then push the transducer into this well, and whenever you go fishing fill this little well with water. This is...

Re: Snatchers

My testing found hooks without crap on it out fished hooks with.... They turn to **** too. I use mine for multiple sessions catching fish. It may depend on the quality, I tie mine from black magic leader and gamakatsu hooks, and they seem to last. I rinse them off with fresh water as I wash down th...

Re: Post counts. Do we need them?

RE my post about this topic in the other thread, I read often enough “post count” coming up in a negative way, with accusations of people deliberately trying to up their numbers by making individual replies. If the post count doesn’t really benefit the forum and removing it will stop these accusatio...

Re: Slayer 10 maiden voyage Fishies Beach

Nice one Seb. I have set up my yak with 3 rod holders each side, the rear most is the flush holder most kayaks come with, then two Scotty rod holders each side roughly where my thighs are. The rear rod is angled backwards, the middle rod straight out and the front holder pointing forwards. This spre...

Re: Slayer 10 maiden voyage Fishies Beach

Thanks! Yes I kinda get the idea now. Ummm so when you drift away from the sinker/bait trailing, you let the sinker/bait dragging the bottom? Small sinker better than big/heavy sinker? That picture is correct, I prefer a sinker heavy enough that it touches and bounces off the bottom, but not so hea...

Re: Slayer 10 maiden voyage Fishies Beach

I see, thanks! I always thought bait fishing was supposed to be as leas disturbance as possible. But what you said makes sense! Get their attention and they'll hit the bait. I'm assuming paternoster then. Cant think of 'bouncing' on running sinker. That’s the one - I use paternosters when drifting ...

Re: Slayer 10 maiden voyage Fishies Beach

As Ian said, it can be clipped to the side. I don’t really use a drift chute much in the PA but I used it frequently in my paddle yak, I would connect it to my anchor trolley then position the chute toward the back or the front so I was at a 45 degree to chop so I wasn’t side on to the chop. For me ...
