Cheers guys.
Kimtown wrote:So did you guys hire boats, go out on charters, or have friends/family/contacts in Vanuatu who supplied the vessels? Also i think I remember you saying in an earlier blog that you take your own gear and tackle when you go on most of your trips, what gear you guys using in this instance? It looks like you are using a 10000? gossa in one of the pics which would make any marlin fight, incredibly fun but also incredibly challenging (unless you took even heavier gear like tiagras, that isn't pictured)
We stayed at trees and fishes and fished from their boats. Dad and I took our own gear - a PE8 and PE5 popping outfit each, and a PE5-6 jigging outfit each. Plus a heap of lures. Both marlin were hooked on the heavy popping gear - it handled them pretty easily, just bloody hard work with an 8 foot rod. Trees and fishes do supply all their own gear, and it's good quality, but charter gear just gets thrashed so you're much better off bringing your own.

Some grouse fish there, did you eat any ???
Those coral trout have a great colour & are good eating (I'm told)
If you need an Uncle to go fishing with, give m e a call (your shout though)
Cheers Uncle Gra
Thanks Gra, we ate fish every day. Tuna sashimi most days, marlin kebabs, baked job fish, tuna steaks...pretty good!

Cheers mate, nothing too special, a canon 7d. Unfortunately you lose a lot of the picture quality when posting on forums, but what can ya do.
