Gunnamatta - Busier than Bourke Street
Folks,
I'm a bit late in sharing but I thought I would anyway....
Earlier in the week I had planned to do a run down to Gunnamatta on Sunday morning after dropping the missus off at work early.
Whilst I knew that the tide wasn't going to be perfect, the weather conditions were looking to be very comfortable.
Now I am rather a novice at fishing at Gunna's and imagine my surprise when I topped the sand dunes....it looks like half of Melbourne had the same idea. I had to walk 15 minutes to find myself a decent piece of water where I could wedge myself in between two other folk.
Despite my early start, the favorable conditions, and my enthusiasm I went home empty handed after 3-4 hours of drowning the pilchards. Certainly there could have been worse ways to spend a Sunday morning.

Thanks for the update mate.
I was thinking of heading that way but kind of glad I didn’t now.
Did you see anyone catching?

I was there on sunday morning throwing slugs. Was busy as and very few fish came out. They're not around in numbers yet

Seriously walk past them. Almost everyone fishes there within 500m of the stairs. If you walk towards the Schanck for 10 minutes you'll get a gutter mostly to yourself.

Personally, I only saw one landing which from a distance looked only about 25cm.
My neighbor who had been there earlier than I said he saw 2-3 others in the 30+ cm range. So yeah, very quite.
Granted this was all at the bottom of the tide.
For my part, I can't say I got a single bite in the 3-4 hours. Mind you I am expecting the salmon to bite very much like they do off the piers, with a solid double tap.

Dam that does sound very quiet!
Hopefully it picks up soon.

They will fire up soon don't you worry. Going by the first picture it looks like it was pretty sloppy conditions so no doubt that didn't help.
