Took a long weekend with the missus and stayed at my parents' place on the old canal system at Bribie. Spent a few hours each day fishing off their pontoon. Canal is tidal, works just like any estuary system. Caught multiple small bream on bread and dough baits, along with plenty of gars caught on dough baits under a float. Used fillets of gar for larger baits with a ripper flathead and keeper size bream, both returned, and one smaller flattie caught on soft plastic lure. Only spent a short time fishing into the night, but would be interested soaking either live gar or mullet later at night for bigger flatties or even mulloway.
Was a good little warm up for my Dunsborough trip with the brothers in law in a couple of weeks!
Cheers, Mat.
