April, Portland, BFT
http://www.glenelg.vic.gov.au/hookedontuna
April is when Portland has its Hooked On Tuna competition. Last year we hooked an unknown express train that was not stopping and the leader parted as I attempted to catch it in the boat. I found the fishing tough with no tuna landed, whilst others did very well.
So who is heading there this year?
Besides it is a good excuse to go fishing.

Was going to start a new topic but this is relevant so may as well keep it here.
Yesterday over 20 Jumbo Tuna were weighed in at Portland a couple of fish were landed a few days prior in less than ideal conditions offshore.
Considering keeping an eye on the forecast and heading down there if circumstances allow will wait and see.

I am spewing that I am taking holidays at the end of April and not the beginning. I also did not realise that the second last weekend was Easter. Accommodation proved not to be an issue as it was easy to book.rb85 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2019 6:03 amWas going to start a new topic but this is relevant so may as well keep it here.

If I could get out there now I would. Hopefully the barrels stay close for you.Wolly Bugger wrote: ↑Tue Apr 02, 2019 7:38 amI am spewing that I am taking holidays at the end of April and not the beginning. People are inviting each other into their boats to have a punch up.
Good luck to whoever is going..take some extra ammo just in case....

Re: April, Portland, BFT
That’s a disgrace ruins the enjoyment of the sport. People should respect others space those on a fish should get on the radio to warn boats nearby to keep a respectable distance and others should adhere. If people need to resort to threats and violence to settle grievances they shouldn’t be out there. Take up mma.purple5ive wrote: ↑Thu Apr 04, 2019 8:59 pmInside info is to be prepared to loose fish due to dingbats running over lines.
