They sink but are retrieved along the surface like a richter plug. Looks exactly like an injured bait fish and now they come in chrome. I use either a white or glow one until the sun is on the water then switch to chrome for maximum visibility. I've hooked everything from a 500g tailor to a 14kg longtail on these. Available from 21g up to 4oz.
