Frankston report
Good morning everyone I have noticed less reports and I have been fishing a bit lately as from what I know it is allowed. The gars at frankston have been going crazy recently I went on Saturday and Sunday Saturday got 3 in the wind and on Sunday I got sixty by far my best garfishing session yet I gave away 30 gars and I tossed thirty back because I thought they where to small and their wouldn’t be enough meat on them to warrant keeping. One thing I have found recently is the gars are sitting really deep I was catching them on a patternoster rig on the bottom. I have gotten Instagram now and if you want you can follow me their as I will be posting pictures. My Instagram is Elijah_welchs_adventures

Re: Frankston report
Good stuff.
Been a while since I catch some gars. Tasty species.
I'm still confused about it. They said no facilities, but if the jetties/piers arent 'closed' (got a closed sign), we can fish the jetties/piers?

Yes as long as you maintain social distancing and wear a mask and it’s within 10kms of home

It says as long as it doesn’t require the use of a closed jetty/pier

Re: Frankston report
I'm not sure there's a closed pier/jetty. Most if not all, are open areas. So basically we can.e.welch wrote: ↑Tue Jun 08, 2021 12:11 pmhttps://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/spor ... ke-fishing

Re: Frankston report
Rember last lockdown where they had to shut down some pier it’s like say mordialloc might get closed because nobody is maintaining social distancing or their is a lot of cases in that area etcSebb wrote: ↑Tue Jun 08, 2021 1:24 pmI'm not sure there's a closed pier/jetty. Re: Frankston report
Cheers on the report, awesome hearing that gars are going wild that way!
They're an unrated table fish imo, but man are they hard to fillet boneless haha!
Anyone have any tips?

Re: Frankston report
just cook them then peel back the meat once you finish one side peel of the backbone and sat the other side the only ones worth filleting would be the really big ones and then just take your time and fell out where the bones are and cut them out of the fillets I’m not sure about pin bones p. Gars though

Re: Frankston report
Best way is to cut them all the way along and open them like a butterfly, then roll them with a rolling pin, when you cook them you can peel the whole backbone right out
