It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

Re: Wolly's Western Port Landbased Guide
Some really good land based WPB fishing info there imo, even a novice to the area should be able to catch something around this bay from the info given.
Nice also to see my crab/hoop net idea / used as a landing net from high piers / mentioned early in the thread.
I have been doing this for 'years' / especially around lakes entrance , as there is heaps of crabs around there.
While the net is on the bottom waiting for you to catch a fish ( and use it as a catch/lifting net ), load it with a bit of scraps and you never know what you might pull up while you waiting for a catch on your rod. Works as a by/catch net and also a landing net. I have sometimes even pulled up KGW around piers in the hoop net , and bream and crabs around lakes entrance.
Amazing how many people I have seen using this method around piers lately since I mentioned it on here.
Cheers , Rick.

Any chance of starting a new forum section just with these guides (i.e this, benos etc) in. It would be great for us all as well as new people. It would be a quick go to area for the information, instead of searching or trawling through the forum.

Corinella:
Low boat traffic at low tide. Heavy running water, bring heavy sinkers. Shark, barra, whiting, squid. A lot of stingrays in that area too. Resident seal that tends to **** everyone off, we nicknamed her Sheila.

Thanks Wolly & fellow contributors. Such a gem of great info about our 'playgrounds'. Makes fishing so much more interesting whatever the day's catch is.

With a full moon on friday, thinking about going out and having a crack at some gummies. Can anyone reccomend a beach/pier to fish off.
