Portarlington Pier Report + Up for another adventure
Hi All,
Yesterday arvo went down to P-Pier and over the span of 4 hours only 8 or so fish brought up across the whole pier all small baby leatherjacket or pinkie, (1 from which i got). So was near donuts but had a good relaxing time. Baits used were pilchards, squid and pippies. 8lb braid running and pasa.
Im up for another adventure next weekend aswell and looking for some nice silver trevally. Used to bag out at lorne 10 years back dont know what happened (overfished?) and cant really seem to get onto them.
If theyre difficult anyone recommend a spot where you can catch anything from whiting to gummies i love the prospect of not knowing whats going to happen. Hows Hastings? San remo, corinella? Mt Martha all places havent tried.
Heard a lot of good about mt martha but not sure wheee to fish or what other than squid and baby pinkies you get there
Also,my J-Braid keeps getting lnots in it any tips.
Thanks.

Of your list Corinella for gummies, Hastings for small Whiting, San Remo a chance of bigger whiting. Mt Martha a mix of squid, snapper, possibly Whiting and gummies

Try stony point. Never know what you'll get there. Trevally, snapper, mullet, gummies, wrasse, squid, etc. And also bait fish like yakkas.

For trevally land based try inverloch if your up for the drive. They are past the pier in great numbers most time if year. I've had success both in winter and summer. Not sure where ya from. Be packed there though at this time.

Portsea Pier has plenty of wrasse and leatherjackets, sometimes salmon and flathead as well. Plenty of pickers too in toadies, puffers and porcupine fish. Plenty of squid as well.

I was looking around the area on Google Maps for a spot to fish this weekend and was going to settled on the south pier. Can't tell where I would fish in the Harbour. Cheers.
